Get to know Rainer Schneck, hairstylist and co-founder of PIN Salon!
Q. When did your hairdressing career begin?
A. Zurich in 1985. Before moving to Dallas in '96 with Jose Eber, I also worked in Manhattan, Los Angeles, and got a Masters in Hairdressing in Switzerland.
Q. Did you always know you wanted to be a hairdresser?
A. I knew from early on I wanted a creative profession, something that was design-related. I have a very creative family, my father was a talented woodworker and my mom was a great cook.
Q. What's your favorite part about styling hair?
A. I like the creative, design aspect of hairdressing. I also like connecting with my clients and knowing that everyday will be different.
Q. Do you have a signature haircut?
A. My signature haircuts are technical haircuts, such as bobs. They require great precision and attention to detail. Overall, I cut both trendy and classic shapes. With each person, I always want the haircut to be unique and wearable, something they can maintain themselves. I was also known as the main hairdresser of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for 14 years, so lots of longer layers and undone waves.
Q. Finish the sentence. Did you know...
A. I started my hairdressing career as a man's stylist, so I'm very comfortable cutting short hair.
Q. What trends are you seeing for spring and summer?
A. The color trends I'm seeing are rose gold and bronde (brown blonde). As for cuts, longer layers are in, and curls are out in favor of bohemian waves. This new texture makes hair look light and thin. For men, the trend is to go longer like Bradley Cooper or Eric Bana.
Q. Which celebrity's hair is always on-point?
A. Scarlett Johansson's, she's not afraid to think outside of the box.
Q. Who are your favorite hair stylists?
A. Orlando Pita and Mike Karg.
Q. Define your haircut style in three words.
A. Classic. Modern. Wearable.
Q. Define PIN Salon in three words.
A. Highly-trained. Personal. Unique.
Q. What are three ways in which PIN Salon is different from other salons in Dallas?
A. One, the stylists at PIN Salon truly have an international background. Two, we are eco-friendly, just check out our product lines and reusable shopping bags. Three, we care about crafting the perfect salon environment for our clients to relax in. We've considered everything from the shampoo chairs to the music. You won't find any distracting TVs or art here - we want the focus to be on beautiful hair.
Q. How is Dallas reflected through PIN?
A. PIN caters to the real makers and shakers of Dallas, those who are connected in the community and really make things happen. Dallas has become a truly metropolitan city in recent decades, and we are proud to serve the doctors, lawyers, senators, etc. who have supported that exponential urban growth.
